Now In the Slender Wood

Now in the slender wood
Where late the snows were lying,
Spring laughs from Winter's hood
To lusty winds replying,
While birds with pipe and call
Enchant her festival.

Now you, whom ne'er I saw,
Now I, that you evaded,
Of love will mind the law
In thickets yet unshaded,
Yes I, your lover new,
My love, now I, now you.

Now from dark Pluto's side
The Queen of Shades, uprising,
In petalled mist shall hide
Our secret and devising,
Nor heed that you betray
The boy of yesterday.
