Past, Present and Future
Good old Noah built an ark —
To save the soul of man;
A vessel built of gopher wood,
By God, the father, planned.
Noah preached for years and years
To change their awful ways;
The sinning people would not heed; — —
Just like they are today.
They ate, they drank, they married wives,
They reveled day by day,
They little thought there'd be a flood,
Till they were swept away.
Many went down in the flood
And filled a watery grave,
The Holy Bible teaches us
There were only eight souls saved.
Noah told them of his plan,
How God would save them all;
The people would not hear his cry,
Till the rain began to fall;
" Too late, too late, " then Noah said,
" God now will close the door. "
The throng went down with rain and storm
To enjoy life no more.
It rained for forty days and nights,
The elements were dark.
Two of every living thing
Were safely in the ark.
Faithful Noah had no fears,
He believed his Maker's word,
He knew that he must stay aboard
Until the sky was cleared.
Noah pitied those without,
He had a loving heart.
'Tis true the sinner would not hear,
To hell they all did start.
God's sending messengers today
To preach His holy word,
To tell poor sinners in this world
How to shun the wrath of God.
We talk, we preach, we pray for them
And many the message spurn,
And so 'twill be until that day
Of our blessed Lord's return.
He may come back at midnight,
Or He may come back at noon,
And all who love His coming
Are looking for Him soon.
Oh, sinner heed His calling
Before it is too late.
Look up, look up to Jesus
Before He seals your fate.
Oh, trust the lowly Jesus,
And then you can't be lost,
He will baptize you forever
With the Holy Ghost.
You'll go on your way rejoicing,
With Jesus as your friend.
He says, " I will be with you,
Lo! even to the end. "
He will give you grace to conquer
Each foe, without, within;
You will live a life so holy
And be all free from sin.
