Purananuru - Part 266
Lord of great victories! Master of a land where the fields gleam
with water and even though it is summer when no huge, bountiful cloud
has poured down rain and the mud is still drying at the bottom
of the reservoirs, nevertheless in the broad shade of a waterlily
with its hollow stalk, a snail who has a spiraling face
and horns like spindles is mating in broad daylight
with a female conch! You whose lofty umbrella reaches the sky!
Cenni with your strong horses! As if listening to the cry for help
of a man who has presented himself in a meeting hall where noble men
are assembled, please, right now, grant me relief for this poverty of mine
that muddies my thoughts, within my body with all of its senses
whose life has turned so twisted
that I hide myself whenever I feel that guests are thinking of visiting me!
