Ragged Robin

Rags and tatters,
Tatters and rags,
A split in my coat
And a patch on my bags—
My vest is torn
And outside in.
Can anyone lend me
A safety pin?

Rags and tatters,
Darns and tears,
I'm all to pieces
And nobody cares—
My hat blew away
In yesterday's wind,
My braces are broken,
No shoe can I find.

Rags and tatters,
Tatters and rags,
Bootlaces, buttonhooks,
Tapes, and tags
Might keep me together
For one more day—
If they can't be found,
You must throw me away.
