Some Time in After Years

Some time in after years, perhaps you'll say,
" A poet loved me one enchanted hour,
But I was young and did not understand,
Holding a sonnet lightly as a flower. "

How many buoyant moons have waned since then!
How many gales have slain the dancing rose!
But the lyric blossom you carelessly tossed away,
In the singing garden of my heart still blows!
