Song of the Isles of the Sea

Bermuda

Isles of bloom and balm, —
Isles of rose and palm, —
Fair harbourage of shipmen and of ships: —
The Gulf Stream hems us round
With a ring of silver sound,
And its mother kiss is salt upon our lips.

Flashing jewels everywhere
Find a setting in the air,
Where the blue-bird flaunts the sapphire she has won;
And the tawny tufted head
Of the cardinal is red
With splashes from the palette of the sun.
