Sonnet 10
Oh sweet love tokens, found to my distress,
so sweet and gay when God was willing!
You stay together in my memory
and conspire with it toward my death.
Who could have told me, who saw me in past
hours in such joy because of you,
that you would become to me one day
tokens of such deep sorrow?
Since in an hour you took away from me
all the joy you gave me only for a time,
take as well the grief you left me,
or I'll suspect that you transported me
to such a state of joy because you wished
to see me die among sad memories.
so sweet and gay when God was willing!
