The Tragecomedy of Mans Life
Heer one is born, and thear an other dies
Nativety and Obsequies
Enter at one; what then is all
This worlds pompe, but Theatricall
For to come out, and to goe in
Hath evermore the custome been
And will be; till the Latter Scene
Summon us all at once again
Then shall the left-hand file in misery
Shut up the story of their Tragedy
Whilst in a Chorus the right winge
The Bridegroomes Epithalamy doe singe
Both guiving a Catastrophe
Unto this Tragick Commedy.
Our Life's a span; the Emblem ont's a Flowre
Sprung Lately from an April showre
To add one to the nosegay
Of Enameled May
Which past, its bewty
Fades and growes dry
Short livd's that
We rate
High
What allthough Lachesis to seem more kind
Lengthen thy thred out to thy mind
Yett ere long thou'lt wish t'have dyde
When as thy Youth and pride
Of dayes bequeath thee
To th'misery
Of More years
Wher cares
Lye.
Then like a Taper turned upside down
Which in'ts own tears its light doth drown
Thou liv'st still dying and fain
Woulst end Life, to end pain
Which ere long graunted
Thats out, thou'rt dead
And timely
Bury-
