In Tricessimum Januarii Diem

In Tricessimum Januarij Diem in quo serenissimus Ille Rex Noster Carolus illius Nominis Primus Nulli pietate secundus a subditis suis inhumaniter obtruncatus erat

Let the Castalian well be overflown
And sad Melpomene express her mone
Whilst comes to mind the Cruell murthering
Of an All verteous and magnanimous King:
O wickedness before thes times ne're known
Of a kind Prince by's People overthrown
Who knew no Gratetude: His memory rears
This day, a solemn feastivall for Tears
And fasting fit: that such a King being set
We mought no more that Tragedy forget:
Nor of those Regicides malicious Rage,
But Reger't up, as Horrid Age, to Age.
