Upon the Death of his Excellency Thomas Earle of Cardigan

Upon the Death of his Excellency Thomas Earle of Cardigan an Epitaph Who Died the 15th of September 1663

Woulst thou enquir heer passing bye
Who tis interred thus doth lie
Cast but thin Eye
Upon this Marble Ston
And Thou'lt find One
Was All of truest Frendships Paragon

Thomas Earle Cardigan heer lies
After His Obsequies
Intoombd: and Doubts arise
Now Natures payd her skoar,
Whither his Titles did adorn Him more
Or haight of Merits he enjoyed before

For 'sides the rest
His frendly Brest
Entitled Him of Frends the Best
And in All Literature well seen
Partner to many years had been
Living to Seavnty and five teen

Now Dead and from this Lifes sad ends
Restord to Rest, bewayld of Frends
Most worthely his memory guave
Me subject to bedew with Tears his Grave.
