Upon the Strange adventure and memorable voyage of Prince Tomaso

Upon the Strange adventure and memorable voyage of Prince Tomaso ali: Black Tom from wansford bridg to London the 29th of October-53

I'le bring noe foreign Voyage on this stage
From Mandevil or Purcas Pilgrimage
Nor will I rake Tom Coriats ashes ore
To coast the Lybian or Atlantike shore
My pen a subject home-bred cannot want
Whilst a brave squier goes up to Troy-novant
And for to guive both purce and body ease
Makes choice o'th'fower-wheeld-common passages.
Wherin now mounted stately He exceeds
The Fiery Pallfries with his eight good steeds
At length drawn out whose every step they tread
To the next comming wayne is registred
In well tun'd bells (Squerrells incag'd some times
I've herd present their Patrons with like chimes:
To consort with the thirsty Axel creaks
And faignes as if for Licker more it speaks
Such harmony seems plaintife making mone
As swine when their nose jewells they put on:
Though these goe slow they'r sure, a pace preferd
In state espetially when musik's heard
For all the Triumphs Potentates are in
Ought not to vanish quickly, but be seen
Soe in a grave solemnity requier
Noe swifter march than that o'th'Pismier
Thus then enthron'd this worthy wight appeers
As Prince to all the other Passengers
Commands and all obey: whom for to help
One straines ambitiously to serve his whelp
As a dry nurce; yet that she may guive milk
Before they part, He shews he is not Bilk
Hath some cards worth the owning, Hers turnd up
The game goes on they play their Tricks and sup
You'ld judg as in that Leather shell they sate
T'had been the Lobster Lady and her mate
By sun-burnt-russet-Packs the hue's exprest
Of that same crawling monster e're't be drest
Though like the horses time drawes out in length
He sate secure and fortifide with strength
Of double Packs like Gabions on a wall
To damp a shott or any harme might fall
Him or his Puppy, and soe stowd for worth
The Curtaines drawn He noe wayes peepeth forth
For fear of a discov'ry (Gould thats fine
Lies deepest in the Caverns of the mine
And soe to set upon him self more price
He thus incoacht shunns all discoveries
Jhon had not bought an ambling nag to ride
To Paris could He'ha'been thus coachefide
'T had saved Lepton horse-flesh, paynes, and work
For once within his week he had seen York
But those were silly Travailers of owld
Could not reach this Invention, save their Gould
And in more state and ease contrive to be
Transported with like great solemnity
Now when one Prince unto an other sends
Embassadours attended by their frends
Accoast his court wher met with Lords and Gentry
They'r huisher'd in as They first make their Entry
That this with His she frend as he draws nigh
The suburbs may not want Civility
And due respects but met with a like Train
I doe proclaime their Entry Carter-Lane.
