The Western Skye
The Western Skye
What doth the red and doughtfull sett portend
The Morrow to prove Foe or Frend
By the Suns Shine
Or rather that some wind
Raise cloudes to shade its face
And make it lowre in rain
Noe, noe 'tis for a grace
The West hath borrowed from its Kindred stain.
'Tis on Her Lip, 'tis on her cheek
Whatsoere all Curious eyes can seek
And yet noe doubt, nor fear
Since that two bright Sunns doe controwle that Sphear.
Her lovely eyes which with one ray
Dazel presumption away
Doe with an other gleam invite
Th'obscurest vapour to turn light
Her Soule and Body howld
The same proportion well
And as the Case or Mowld
Is exquisite, soe doth th'inclosd excell
Now through each others Influence of good
What may be understood
Save by a Propagating power
A Shower
Not to destroy but to increase
Fullnes of Joy and Peace
That when all Almanacks through prescript lie
Mine may speake truth upon this Western Skye.
