What's Grandfather Mumbling?

What's grandfather mumbling?
Like enough he's grumbling:
But you've too much to do, my lass, to mind what menfolk say
If I'd heeded what men said,
I'd have been in my last bed,
Dead among the other dead,
Many a long day.

What's grandfather mumbling?
Like enough, he's grumbling
Something about wenches' tongues, I think I heard him say,
Something, too, I think he said,
About lying in his bed,
Quiet with the quiet dead,
Many a long day.
