When the Snow Was Deep

When the snow was deep,
I sprinkled crumbs for the birds to eat.
They would chirp for food —
The bluebird and sparrows were in pleasant mood.
They would go and come back, but not all would go,
Some would stay and swing to and fro,
On the branches, and eat the crumbs that were left on the snow.
