Wrote on the Last Day of February 1775

Had Caesar took this useful Hint
E're to the senate House he enter'd,
Longer he might have liv'd to think
Nor midst his cruel Murd'rers ventur'd.
Ladies this wiser Caution take,
Trust not your Tea to Marcus Brutus,
Our Draught he'll spoil our China break,
And raise a Storm that will not suit us.
Then for the Sake of Freedom's Name
(Since British Wisdom scorns repealing)
Come sacrifise to Patriot Fame,
And give up Tea by way of healing.
This done within ourselves retreat
The industrious Arts of Life to follow
Let the proud Nabobs storm & fret,
They cannot force our Throats to swallow.
Tho' now the boistrous Surges rowl,
Of wicked North's tempestuous Ocean,
Leave him for Justice to controul
And strive to calm our own Commotion.
With us each prudent Caution meet,
Against this blustering Son of Thunder,
And let our firm Resolve, defeat
His Lordship's ministerial Blunder.—
