Apprehension

You confuse me,
confound me,
and yet,
you have captured me.

How unlikely all of this seemed,
but now, somehow is a reality,
and still, somewhat like a dream.

I feel like a silken banner
blowing in the wind,
having broken free from its restraints,
blown randomly, only to fall at your feet;
left to your mercy,
left for you to handle
in whatever way you will.

I wonder what your intentions are,
what it is you want from me
and if I'm able to give it.

Will you make a mockery of me?
Will you condemn me?
Or do the unthinkable
and stone my heart with your words.

My desire to trust you
though very strong
fear holds it back...

To keep me from becoming
the very thing you loath.
