An Astronaut’s Thoughts During Lift Off
I feel a rush as I ascend,
gathering speed, yet can’t pretend
to be at ease when I consider
a thought that makes my ticker flitter:
that each component of this rocket,
from engine to the smallest socket,
was put here by the lowest bidder.
