Halo

to the small child with the
big curls dipped in sunshine...
don’t let that light fade
as you walk through this very dark world.
Keep your golden halo and cascading waves
shock the world with your radiance
wash the globe in your youth
and do not apologize for rocking the boat too hard
the boat needs to be rocked too hard
your smile is a light tower
and every turn of your head
will bring more desperate souls to you
souls that were looking for a sign
a halo on the horizon

Delightfully colorful praise and advice. I wonder: Would such a cute kid need such lavish encouragement? Perhaps, however, it doesn’t hurt to warn or remind a child not to let the darkness in the world get her down or hold her back. I love “big curls dipped in sunshine” and “your smile is a light tower.”

I believe we all need to hear that encouragement, especially after we've grown up, and don't receive praise at every turn because we're a cute kid. I hope that everyone will be able to hold the sentiment that they are loved, and wanted and are capable of great things. Thank you for the comment!!
