I Started Too Late...

I started too late
Trying to put
My thoughts on paper.

Oh, I wrote as a child,
But in a desultory way…

I fear it is too late
To be successful
At this profession
I’ve chosen,
Listening to the children
Who have already
Surpassed my best
And started four years ago…

But I’ll keep trying.
