L'hitraot

L’hitrot

Until I see you again.

It lacks the healing energy of shalem,

the peaceful expansive  of shalom;

Insouciant hail-and-farewell

conceals its own m'tzarim,

place of constricting throat and suppressing tears,

an exit pass to wander in a wilderness of regret.

L’hitraot.

Not even a goodbye.

Sent out into a liminal place

of undefined uncertainly

too familiar

to pretend.

L’hitraot

Until we meet again.

In a place of hope,

not faith.
