MAIDEN BRITAIN

MAIDEN BRITAIN

Now the world is globalised
Manufacturing gone abroad
It has caused much surprise
As tariffs are a sharp sword

The cost of imports raised
And the reciprocity follows
Yet won’t matter if phased
It leaves economic hollows

It’s now about saving face
Never peering at the door
A once fine industrial base
It takes decades to restore

It demands a re-evaluation
What makes nations proud
After belated concentration
We all should shout it loud

Some principles can shrink
Perhaps that green agenda
It’s not as bad as you think
As worst of all is surrender
