Night Sky

He sits down wishing for serenity
Hoping for escape from the melancholy
Coming from a land run down and decrepit
A land lost, scarce, and neglected
But there’s a place that truly shines brightly
Producing hopes and dreams vibrantly
It’s rich with zest…and the good life
Though amongst it is an area filled with strife
Filled with hopelessness and despair
And of people who wonder if there is any real care
A care for a land so rugged and gritty
A land evoking suffering and pity

He’s gazing at the stars up in the air
Wishing for the dreams beyond compare
Dreams that would fall down and that would last
Defying the universe that seems so vast
Dreams that would put a smile on his face
That would go beyond the realms of space
Dream that would make him be the definite one
The one who succeeded, achieved, and won
So when he dies, his soul would be a shooting star
So bright, that it won’t seem very far

He leaps up and down real high
Leaping from the grass to reach the sky
He eventually stops…knowing he won’t achieve
Living in a land where it’s hard to succeed
He sits back down upon the grass
Knowing his dreams won’t come to pass
The twinkling stars continue to shine
And he falls back…knowing that it is time
A time to give up…since he won’t reach high
So he’ll continue to watch…the Night Sky
