Our Problems Solved

That’s all I ask for.
But we’re far from it still.
It’s deceiving, like getting out of a racoon trap.

It always starts over dinner; A fine American cuisine.
Little Caesars’ Pizza served beautifully
On the whitest, and most fragile China:
Disposable paper plates.

Someone mistakenly here’s “Fuck You” instead of “Love ya”
And
Down
The
Rabbit
Hole
We
Go

Mom cusses us out for swearing at the dinner table,
Dad’s quietly in the corner eating crumbs,
My sisters clawing at each other’s hearts,
And grandma’s crying again - or is that a side effect of the chemo?

The taste of not eating refried beans for the seventh day in row
Is the only reason everyone settles in
And the next thing you know
They’re sitting in the living room singing hymns
Because jesus died for these sins.
