Resplendent

She’s one of those girls

The kind there aren’t enough adjectives for

spirited, vibrant, exuberant, feisty, frisky

The kind of girl you want to be around all the time

But amidst all her electric enthusiasm

I couldn’t help but sense a hollowness in her soul

A pain that held her captive

Like the creeping chill

Whispering to you on a warm sunny fall day

The foreboding of the bleak winter on its way

And like the stark beauty of wintertide

With its hues of somber grays, dingy whites, and murky blues

this dourness of her heart

made her all the more resplendent
