On the road again

From one end to another
from lively dawn to the dying dusk
until the moon comes up
and the wind settles down
when the birds come back to roost
I am on the road again…
Towards my home one step at a time
and the front-porch light is in sight.

Across the rolling meadows
surmounting the rocky terrains
negotiating the rough waters
until the sun rises and wearily sets
I am on the road again
heading back home on the prairie.
