Shame

Is it because the goings-on in the world
have to be seen from the top of the worlds' largest tree?
Its branches have wire tendrils
and link on to their neighbors'
and connect life forms
to newly-discovered heightened senses.
.

The sense of urgency.
.

The danger,
even when it's not in view--
it's about how it happened to whom.
A helicopter of guilt
descends on the present moment,
delivers survival packs:
-a credit card number
-a paypal button
.

emergency eject life-giving words into the status bar:
.

-of sympathy,
-of solidarity,
-of allyship,
-of pity
.

and the greatest of these is pity.
.

Put on the pity mask
(it's located in the far right overhead compartment)
give yourself the supply first
and then you can help the others put on theirs.
This is what we do on the Tree World--
our second Home World,
when away from the blue and green Mother World.
.

This, our Shame,
a naturally-occurring disaster
a hurricane deep in the brain.
