Sonnet for a Younger Fool

What does a god of nature know and see
Beyond the cycles he bestows on all?
Is there a symmetry where leaves did fall?
Or do we all descend eternally
Regardless if we're animal or tree?
What does a god of nature say to you
When birthed from out the universal brew
You wake: the knights of wands inverted flee?
But turn and turn and rush the seasons will.
The hill encourages the river's flow
To turn the waterwheel of older gods;
In turn they drive it even faster still.
How many fell, and ancient trees did grow?
A beggar plucks hydrangeas to throw.
