The Vestibule

“There will come a day
when the fear of death
will be the favorite joke
amongst corpses”

Alysia Harris

I would venture to add
that this day is already here.
Lives plucked from a momentary
lapse of judgement
Hand cradled with dirt
baring their confidence
with the indignation
of a vestibule lasciviousness

still there is coming a day
when hand shall hold hand
and words
shall no longer be our weapon of choice.
where the tounge becomes a banner
for truth and will no longer harbor
it’s hatred.

What of death?
The elusive fiend
that remarkable portrait of
cynicism.

Yes there is coming a day
where the sword shall be laid aside
every samurai engaged in a battle
with the human heart.

There is coming a day
where tears shall baptize our humanity
into the immeutable image of God
Immaculately writing our story
against the sky

so even though our history
wreaks of insurmountable odds.
It will be the brandishing of our hearts
and mind in perfect synchronicity.

There is coming a day
when little boys
and little girls
when old men
and grown women.
When Fierce souls
and powerful minds
shall become the effervescent
throng of pain
and cling only to Glory.

Yes There is coming a day
where death will be the favorite joke
amongst the corpses
but remember darling
that this joke made lead to a standing ovation
simply because on this side of eternity
it is a our bank accounts
our greed
our persistent need
our consumerism
our contempt
that bleeds through our
flesh like the repugnance
of rotting meat.

But there is a day not yet arrived
where we must lay this contrition
to rest.
Our only communal
that of our bones
and how death
was really the pied Piper
lulling us back home
