A Woman Scarred

She was beautiful
But she couldn’t see it
She was talented
But didn’t believe it
She was loved
But couldn’t feel it
She was fearful
You could smell it
She was appreciative
But couldn't show it
She was smart
But didn’t know it
She wasn’t blind
She was scarred
Her wounds deep
So deep they couldn’t heal
Time may heal wounds
But love healed these
She had to love herself
Before loving another
Slowly she saw
How pretty she was
Her talents
She explored
She was loved
And appreciated it
She’s still afraid
But she’ll be okay
Her scars are a map
To the woman she is today
