World Tree

by m. head

I go to the tree when I’m down
I go to the tree when I’m spent
I go to the tree when I’m drowning in the moment
Or when I’ve forgotten what I meant

She takes my heart and lays it bare
She takes my soul and let’s air the ill
She’s my constant and every direction
I find myself alone on the map with a chill

And I plot away my horror
She takes my body at rest
Makes it into a ship sailing
Across the transcendental mess

And I grow back twice as strong
Twice as hard as it was before
Because she always watered my calm
When all my other feelings tore

Now I go to the tree when I am happy
I go to the tree where all is blessed
Because it harries and stills my heart
When it’s beating out of its chest.
