You...

Once upon a time, there was love,
A love so profuse it filled a soul and overflowed
It spilled into a heart and burst into a mind,
Overwhelmed a body and leaked into a world

      But still, you wanted more…
      You…

You wished and it was a command
For you, a desperate soul squeezed itself out,
Drowned its world with every last drop of love
And the deluge sent all familiar souls around drifting away…
…away over the horizon

      Not far away enough, perhaps…
Because even that did not suffice…

But the soul, once healthy and strong, had become weak and thirsty
Yet, in earnest devotion, it looked up to a sky,
The sky filled with the clouds of your luscious love
Patient and hopeful, it waited…
…waited for a drop from above that would keep it alive until the rain fell

      Only a drop…
      Yet nothing ever came…

On the brink of death, the soul faltered,
And began to choke on gulps of its own love
Gulp after inadvertent gulp,
An entire sea of a love now tainted was drained from a world
And when it was done, there was a soul,
Sated yet empty,
Empty like the reality left behind by the sea of a love that once was…
