Haym Salomon

Who was this man, unsung in poet's rhyme,
Unwritten in the story of our land,
Whose soul was kindled with a dream sublime,
Who gladly gave for country heart and hand.

Of Judah's race, he saw the dawning light,
And strove with Washington to keep aflame
The torch of freedom through the starless night;
And this was Salomon—immortal name!
