Ceremony
Embarrassed, you reach God's door.
Your face is pale, your spirit aflame.
This difficult love, Lord, has set me astray in the land,
won't you stretch a compassionate hand to save me?
He says, are you only a wayward desire
clamoring like wind when its routes are blocked?
If you should crave the fire of the Beloved,
do not alight,
they've lost their way who have come down before you.
And silence your hands when you approach my Kingdom,
only your foolhardy heart shall give the knock.
But I left my camel at His banks,
until sheets of rain enveloped it.
Solitary at last, God revealed Himself in my words,
a river following His waters.
The bathed spirit kindled for passion of Him
but His old love tempted it away.
