My Invocation
My invocation
Great, and Good God of Justice, Love
As that to fear soe graunt this move
My Trembling Hart, til it retain
Some sparkes of heat and life again
Sithence my Creation Fuell's don
Lighten the Turf by thine own Sonn
What hopes of this? unless I may
In awe to that find a decay
Of such lewd thoughts, words, Acts did bring
My whol man to a wintering
In Lust and Sin, and growth in Grace
T'assure a spring tide in the place
How's that attaind? By heat not Could
'Tis that the Bounteous Marigould
Displaies its Treasure, and kind showers
Not Frosts befrend both frute and flowers
Thaugh then my Brest til't open Zeal
And let my eyes those sigths reveal
In raine, that my Affections may subdue
Soe from my Owld Congeald Clott raise thoughts new.
