One thousand

One thousand
plus nine hundreds
plus six tens
plus eight atom units
I contradict I contradict
counting bits counting click the poem money month numbers
a teller
dough of anonymous pleasure & body potlatch
I am your gross national poem phenomenon & do not think that large social institutions are at all evil in their supposed depersonalizing effect upon the spirit & dignity of man but good
good not only as a piece of mass made metal machinery is good but good even as a flower is good
a flea or tick is good
& that the 500 most gigantic megalocorporations catalogued annually in Fortune magazine make a lovely chronicle of knowledge & goodness for all men
that International Harvester & Coca Cola International & Rotary & Kiwanis & Lions International
International Telephone & Telegraph & International Business Machines are holy
are ordered in celestial hierarchies like seraphim cherubim thrones dominations virtues powers principalities archangels & angels
virgins martyrs fathers doctors metropolitans & patriarchs We
are the gross national enormous suburb
