In the early hours / the lovebirds

IV

In the early hours
the lovebirds
colonized the palm.

Were were looking for a totem.

In the east
where the sun deflects the falcons
from their sea positions
and the Indian smells
we found a frere
with no cathedral
but the daisies in May,
living on milk and wafers,
with the cross in one hand
and anatomy in the other.
