Tragic Poem of Wold, The - Act 2, Scene 3
SCENE III — Outside the Main Gate of Wold The bell is tolling
Lord W OLD and H ASTINGS spring out on horseback, just as the portcullis begins to be raised
The D UCHESS of W ORLD appears on the wall above
D UCH . I've missed them Traitors, turn and take with you
Utter defiance! Thou, Thomas of Wold,
Shalt in that gate trample the womb that bore thee,
Ere thou shalt enter in! Yea, in that gate
I'll pile those outraged coffins of thy fathers,
For a last barrier, ere thou enter in!
