The struclings of faith october, 7 71
Why lookest thou, soe sternly att me
As if thou wer't my foe
Through grace, I'le cleave, & cling, to thee
I'le not be put of soe
When sin, and saten, greatly rages
to Thee Lord, I will fly
Thou art that blessed, rock of ages
On whom, I will rely
I know, it is not meet, to give
To dogs, the Childrens bread
Yet blessed Lord, the dogs to live
With crums, from the boards head
Into thine arms, I'le throw my soull
On this, I doe resovle
Come life, come death, on thee I'le roull
Then Lord, thou must absovle
A covenant with me, thou hast made
Its lasting, firm, and sure
It is a strong, foundation laid
Which ever, shall endure
Sin cannot break, the knot that's knitt
By compact, long agoe
Into thy hands, I will commit,
Both soull, & body, too
The bond, my god, is seal'd with bloud
The bloud of thine own son
See thou to itt, to make it good
For me, Christs bloud, did run
The mountains may, depart away
The hills, they may remove
Thy Loving kinndnese, cant decay
To one, whom thou dost love
Thou hast, oh Lord, commanded me
To lay hold, on thy strength
And I shall make, my peace with thee
To an eternall length
My faith, though weak, takes hold on thee
And on thy strength oh Lord
Then I shall make my peace with thee
According to thy word
In thee it is, the fatherlese
Doth tender mercy, find
To the fatherlese, & frindlese
Thou'lt shew thy self, most kinnd
What though a mother, may forget
Her tender sucking Child
My god, is more compationet
More mercyfull, & mild
Thy truth, & oath, my soull rests on
Within the vaill it enters
Christ is the food faith feeds apon
On him, it sweetly centors
Thou hast bid me, come take my fill
Of waters, that run free
Without money, or prise, I will,
Lord, I will come, to thee
Once more, I throw my soull, oh Lord
Down att thy blessed feet
Depending, firmly, on thy word
That thou wilt safly keep't
Then why art thou soe sad, my soull
And why soe much cast down
I doe thee now, on Jesus roll
Truth cant, reverse whats done
Thy truth, & honour, lys att stake
If into hell, I fall
And in this, I will comfort take
Though Saten, rage, & baule
Why lookest thou, soe sternly att me
As if thou wer't my foe
Through grace, I'le cleave, & cling, to thee
