Addressed to the Tower of all Nations

O thou great thou mighty tower
rising so solemnly
o'er all this splendid glorious city
this city of the sea

thou seeme'st as silently I gaze
a pillar of the sky
so lofty is thy structure
so massive & so high

the dome of heaven is oer thee
hung with it's silver star's
the earth is round about the[e]
with it's eternal bars.

& such a charming dogge[re]l
as this was never wrote
not even by the mighty
& high Sir Walter Scott
