Beauty
Nothing in all the radiant years to be
May come now, Beauty, and usurp your place,
The urge to dreams, the pulse and agony
Of universal trends achieve to grace
Only through you, the pith and mystery
Of all our lives. To think upon your face
Is to renounce known harbours for the sea
And sail beyond the littorals of space.
Children whose eyes contain in them your trail
Are mightier than princes: they have won
Lordship on earth, and such as may not fail.
Yours is the quest that never can be done:
The search for lost Atlantis and the Grail
Beyond the rim of stars and set of sun.
