For a Birthday

When your Birthday comes, I say;
Happy be this holy day!
Happy may it be for you;
But for me it's blessed too
For the fact that I exist
While you live has made it blest.

Had I lived when Helen shone,
All my days would now be gone.
But I live while you are giving
Joy to all who see you living.
Since my happy lot did fall so,
Lady, 'tis my birthday also.
