Book 1. Ode 8.

Book I. Ode VIII.

B Y St. Patrick , say, O'Connor ,
Why Sir Francis you dishonour?
Why to him the camp's a bore,
Lost on him the Derby Corps .
He the Gallic steeds could bridle,
Yet the gay Seceder 's idle;
And, if livid arms he chuses,
Earns them in Election bruises.
He at Brookes ', or Crown and Anchor ,
France approves, and votes to thank her;
Making, at the Whig-potations,
Jacobinical orations;
And abjuring Britain's aid,
If Directories invade .
Lest, in Bonaparte's whim,
He should waste the pike on him .
