Classic Poem

Because we breathe the same birds of sand
and the same fear of heliotropes
because we are the little that doesn't happen
because of the equal number of our teeth
and our pockets' monthly pensions
because we make the same sound a violin bow makes
because of the digits of our right hands
and our very leftist handwriting
because we measure time in record time
because of this sole that stepped over your star
because of the same erect pithecanthropus
and the fourth dimension of our livers
because of the mutuality of our shoes
and the functioning of our sunshades
lastly because of the hectars that will grow
our forty nails
because of the costliest meters of dying
I can only be whatever you are
