Cambuscan; or, The Squire's Tale - Part 67
To which the knight — " O king! whose just concern
" Still nourishes devotion's purest flame;
" Nor need I tell — nor need thy wisdom learn
" The wonders wrought by the Almighty name.
" By this inspir'd, our holy prophet wrought
" Performances exceeding reason's line;
" High miracles beyond the reach of thought,
" That insidels might own the faith divine,
" Whose call the earth, and air, and sire obey,
" And the relentless grave, and the unfathom'd sea!
" Still nourishes devotion's purest flame;
" Nor need I tell — nor need thy wisdom learn
" The wonders wrought by the Almighty name.
" By this inspir'd, our holy prophet wrought
" Performances exceeding reason's line;
