Newmarket is the scene wher evry on
Acts a perpetuall motion
And whilst they this and that way flurting ride
Like ebbs and flowings in a tide
Youl'd judg't a Sea of folly when they troope
And wagers lay which horse comes first to th'stoope

For as the waves unconstancy; the crack
Shifts from the Bay to th'Rhone, fro'th'white to th'Black
Dutton will winn of Crickett some suppose
Others that Bevis cariest from White-rose
Brandling had run with Talbot too some say
But that the forfaiture they chose to pay
Thus like that scumm or froths upon
The briny Ocean
Soe if Their Goddess raise her windes
She workes up Bubbles in their mindes
But if Her Calmes Misfortunes raine
'T may be they'l know themselves and you again.
