What cher? Gud cher, gud cher, gud cher.
Be mery and glad this gud New Yere!

" Lift up your hartes and be glad "
In Christes birth," the angel bad.
" Say eche to oder, if any be sade,
" What cher? " "

Now the King of Heven his birth hath take
Joy and mirth we ought to make:
Say eche to oder, for his sake,
" What cher?"

I tell you all, with hart so free,
Right welcum ye be to me!
Be glad and mery for charite —
" What cher?"

The gudman of this place, in fere,
You to be mery he prayth you here,
And with gud hert he doth to you say,
