Dainty verse from woeful heart How forthcoming may there be?

Dainty verse from woeful heart How forthcoming may there be?
From this book one trait we cite: What though more to say there be?

From thy ruby lip the ring Of assurance if I get,
Hundred realms like Solomon's Will beneath my sway there be.

Nought it skilleth, heart, to grieve For the enviers' girds: for good
May, perchance, for thee therein, If the thing thou weigh, there be.

Nought their paintings do I prize Who this image-making reed
Apprehend not, though the famed Limners of Cathay there be.

Cup of wine, heart's blood, on each One or other They bestow;
In the circle of the Fates, Dealings on this way there be.

That the rose the light-o'-love Of the mart and rosewater
Cloistered be, decrees forewrit, Still from Aye to Aye, there be.

Never more from Hafiz' thought Will debauchery depart;
That which in the Prime there was, Will till the Last Day there be.
