Following Daphne fleeing—I awake!
Not the laurels now that take
Her from me hot pursuing,
Wrap her shape
Beyond escape,
But the dawn to my undoing
Prisons me in hours ensuing—
With her loveliness un-overtaken,
Dream forsaken!
