December

Winter now has fully come
With its heavy frost and snow;
Frozen over is the brooklet,
Ceased now is its rippling flow.

All the pretty little flowers
That went to sleep so long ago,
Are snugly covered over
With the pretty, shielding snow.

But the outside is forgot,
By the cheerful hearth-fire's light,
Where merry games are going on
'Mong the group so gay and bright.

Snowy, icy, cold December,
Oh, how much we love you, dear,
For you bring dear Christmas with you,
Merriest day of all the year.
