The Devil As Friend

Too late for peace
Your peace is ever late,
And farewell and alas,
Outrageous blarneyman
Who hated falsehood
Better than truth loved.
Good-bye, and never greeting.

See how his antics multiply
To this fresh ancient theme —
Ours is the endless judgement-day,
His the corrupt new endless years.
